The Karaka National Yearling Sale this year has gone through a huge make-over to draw in new and hopefully returning international buyers. It has become the biggest week on the thoroughbred breeding industry calendar year, being successful in gaining buyers from all around the world visiting the sales in hope of a success story. 6b3h4z
Last weekend there was two $1 million stake races at Ellerslie on Saturday evening prior to the sales. Later that weekend on Sunday night 100 horses went up for auction, a day earlier than past years. Over the week around 1200 yearlings will be purchased. In 2008 <$111 million of bloodstock was sold. With all the updates the sales have been granted, Head of NZ Bloodstock Andrew Seabrook hopes to make gains from 2017’s numbers and sell towards the insane numbers of 2008.
